Director, Corporate Development Finance

Position's Goal & Summary:

The Director, Corporate Development Finance, drives finance for Corporate Development initiatives from Business Development and Venture Capital. They support Senior Executives in strategic investments across the business.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate growth opportunities for Intuitive. Support the Sr. Director, Corporate Development & Digital Finance.
  • Research markets, technologies and organizations to assess strategic fit and financial value.
  • Operate as a player coach while managing a team of managers and analysts who support our Corporate Development initiatives.
  • Partner with Business Unit managers and deal teams on key diligence areas that impact valuation and transaction structure for M&A and VC deals.
  • Deliver financial models and valuation analyses for BD and venture capital investments, including acquisitions, licenses, equity investments, joint ventures, and partnerships.
  • Coordinate strategic investments with Business Unit managers, BD teams, and the finance organization.
  • Support our Venture Capital team by partnering on investment diligence. Help develop investment models, including follow-on forecasts, valuations, liquidation waterfalls, exit projections, and return analyses. Assist with portfolio and capital allocation models.
  • Develop board-level presentation materials in support of strategic investments.
  • Track and report return on investments made in external organizations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in medical device Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Equity Research, Buy Side, or Venture Capital roles.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience leading deal teams. Develop M&A models, execute VC investments, manage diligence processes, and provide value perspectives.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Inquisitiveness and ability to navigate ambiguous circumstances.
  • Profound cogent and critical thinking skills.
  • Medical device industry experience and ability to master our organizational strengths.
  • Exceptional deal structure, business modeling and valuation expertise.
  • Ability to present, articulate, and uphold analyses, diplomatically, on a routine basis.
  • This role requires working in our Sunnyvale office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week. Periodic travel is necessary to support due diligence efforts and projects.
