CoreWeave is seeking a Director of Commercial Accounting to manage all aspects of the month-end close process for revenue and oversee multiple aspects of the Order to Cash cycle (e.g., Customer Billings). The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in all aspects of revenue recognition, partner with multiple cross-functional teams to help achieve Company objectives, and lead initiatives to make the Order to Cash process more effective and efficient. An ideal candidate will have an extensive US GAAP technical revenue accounting background, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of building and managing a team of high-performing individuals.

Responsibilities:

Revenue Recognition

  • Ensure the company accurately and timely recognizes revenue in compliance with all applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606), provides related footnote disclosures (e.g., Remaining Performance Obligation – RPO reporting), and accurately discloses related non-GAAP measures.
  • Manage and update the company’s revenue recognition policies.
  • Review complex customer contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment, including partnering with corporate accounting where other accounting matters arise (e.g., VIEs or derivatives embedded in a contract).
  • During contract negotiations, provide proactive subject-matter expertise and guidance to the legal, sales, and business development teams, ensuring that revenue recognition principles are upheld while still helping the Company meet its operational objectives (e.g., identify potential issues, and work with cross-functional partners to mitigate these issues).
  • Develop and implement processes to streamline and automate revenue accounting workflows, including contract review procedures.
  • Assist the finance team in strategic financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling related to revenue.

Operations

  • Oversee accurate and timely customer billing, including tracking of customer credits.
  • Track and report on customer account discrepancies and follow through to resolution.
  • Work tightly with the shared services organization on related order-to-cash processes. 
  • Create and monitor metrics around processes to ensure efficiency & effectiveness.
  • Manage and monitor owned accounts, including revenue and accounts receivable.
  • Oversee the close process for owned areas and ensures the accurate and timely completion of transactions, journal entries, and account reconciliations. 
  • Manage internal controls (SOX controls) around any owned processes, including updating required process and policy documentation.
  • Manage external audits in coordination with the SOX and Corporate Controller’s office.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., working with the system team on upgrading billing systems).
  • Support related cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Other tasks as assigned/deemed necessary.

Team Leadership

  • Leads, coaches, and develops their team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Leverages development tools to facilitate training and upskilling of team members.
  • Leads performance management and appraisals as well as goal setting for team members.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s or graduate degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience – an advanced degree (e.g., MBA or MS) is preferred
  • Extensive experience with contract review and interpretation, especially in the context of revenue recognition
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, particularly ASC 606, and other revenue recognition standards
  • Previous experience in Cloud or Data Center Infrastructure (data centers, cloud, etc.) is preferred but not required
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company and with SOX compliance is highly desirable
  • 12+ years of experience with a demonstrated passion for conquering challenges and bringing order from chaos 
  • Strong partnership, communication, organizational, and leadership skills 
  • CPA strongly preferred 
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized yet remain flexible in a fast and dynamic work environment
  • Leadership/mentorship mentality that inspires strong attention to detail and process improvement among junior and mid-career accounting staff
  • Data and process-driven with a strong analytical mindset
  • Proactive with the ability to anticipate and avoid problems before they arise 
  • Embrace positivity & tenacity: you find ways to move forward through challenges 
  • Experience at a large public accounting firm is a plus
  • Ability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and distraction-free environment

What We Offer

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $205,000-$240,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Hybrid Workplace

Successful candidates will be expected to attend onboarding training at our NJ Headquarters for up to 2 weeks within their first month of employment, with subsequent quarterly travel requirements of 1 week duration.
