Director, Campus Support & Action Plan Implementation- Western Region

Hillel International’s Campus Climate Initiative (CCI) works collaboratively with higher education administrators to ensure a positive campus climate where Jewish students feel comfortable expressing their identity and values free of antisemitism, harassment, or marginalization. Hillel CCI’s primary method of delivery is our 10-month Campus Cohort Program, which has engaged more than 75 colleges and universities representing the diversity of higher education institutions in the U.S. Each campus completes the program with an Action Plan composed of tailored recommendations and best practices that facilitate improvements in the climate for Jewish students on their campus. The primary focus of this role is to provide ongoing support and services to university administrators in the Western Region of the U.S. whose campuses have completed the Campus Cohort Program. The Western Region includes states west of, and including, Texas (subject to change) with a primary focus on the many CCI campuses in California. The Director of Campus Support & Action Plan Implementation will work with campuses to implement their Action Plans, coordinate CCI training and educational sessions for administrators and staff, and work with the CCI team and outside consultants to evaluate the impact of CCI and the campus Action Plans on Jewish students’ experience on campus.

In the first 12-24 months, a significant emphasis of this role is to serve as the lead coordinator of CCI’s partnership with the University of California system.  The director will liaise closely with the UC Office of the President and the 10 UC campuses.  Responsibilities for this role are listed below.

This position requires residency in California to facilitate the extensive work with the many California campuses that participate in CCI, and other campuses in the surrounding area. Please note that in order to be considered, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Regular travel throughout California is required.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as project manager for the CCI-UC partnership. This includes but is not limited to, liaising and partnering with the UC Office of the President on planning and scheduling educational programming and training, supporting administrators through the process of data collection in collaboration with CCI’s Senior Project Manager and external partners, overseeing the process of action planning and supporting processes of action plan implementation; developing close relationships with UC administrators throughout the state and supporting efforts to bring CCI learning to their campuses.
• Support campuses that are completing or have completed the CCI Cohort Program in the development of campus administrator committees responsible for implementing their CCI Action Plan.
• Participate in regular meetings of, and otherwise support, action plan implementation committees. 
• Establish and record metrics for each CCI campus; track accomplishments and assist in reporting to CCI stakeholders. 
• May conduct virtual and in-person training individually and/or in collaboration with other CCI staff for campus administrators and staff at CCI campuses (depending on experience).
• Hold periodic in-person meetings with individual campus teams and other administrators, in partnership with the local Hillel Executive Director, to deepen campus relationships and advance CCI’s goals.
• Collect, evaluate, and report data on Action Plan implementation and campus impact. 
• Additional responsibilities as assigned, related to the above duties.  

Who We’re Looking For

Hillel International is looking for the following key professional and personal attributes.

• 8+ years of experience in higher education, a Jewish community, or a community relations institution. Proven ability to develop robust relationships with individuals and institutions with diverse views across the political and ideological spectrum.
• Graduate degree required.
• Familiarity with the history, sources, and characteristics of antisemitism; Jewish history and culture; and Zionism and anti-Zionism.
• Familiarity with the UC administration, campus cultures, and campus climate for Jewish students.
• Familiarity with university practices, policies, and issues related to campus climate and diversity and inclusion, with special awareness of issues and concerns affecting Jewish students, including antisemitism and anti-Zionism.
• Creative and energetic personality with a demonstrated history of building and maintaining positive working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal, written, project management, meeting facilitation, presentation, and listening skills.
• Model integrity, honesty, truthfulness, and compassion.

This position reports to the Executive Director of CCI and is part of CCI’s Campus Support team.
