About the role:

As a Business Development Director at Whalar, you will be responsible for revenue growth and partnership development, working with some of the world’s most exciting brands.

In this role, the Business Development Director is required to pivot across category verticals in line with business needs so adaptability and a curious mind is essential. The successful candidate must have a strong record of client leadership, commercial sales and revenue generation, and a passion for high-growth digital industries and creators.  

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8+ years Sales experience, or previous equivalent experience and be comfortable working towards revenue targets. Experience and passion for working in the Creator Economy are valued and appreciated.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Deliver senior client leadership, sales and revenue growth with key DACH clients whilst identifying and converting new business opportunities by:
    • Developing long-term, profitable and trusted relationships with clients
    • Identifying and seeking out a strong advertiser client base for the business
  • Continuously manage and develop a robust sales pipeline to meet quarterly goals. Maintaining high standards of pipeline organization and cleanliness is essential
  • Annual account planning as aligned with regional leadership; quarterly action plans reviewed in line with broader Quarterly forecasting
  • Organization and delivery of client Business Reviews and Senior Whalar stakeholders within integrated agency partnerships
  • Lead the Client Service, Measurement, and Media teams through internal kick-off meetings, ensuring effective communication transfer for ongoing client success
  • Stay ahead of the latest trends, thought leadership, and innovations within the Creator Economy, pro-actively taking innovation and creative business solutions to clients that align with business goals
  • Organize and deliver Creator Economy learning and inspiration sessions to new and existing clients

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years of digital media sales experience
  • Substantial experience at a senior level, either in advertising partnerships or in an Influencer marketing agency
  • A natural storyteller and consultative seller who adopts a strategic approach to client leadership
  • An appreciation of creativity and culture 
  • Understands marketing industry trends in to which Creator marketing fits
  • A strong network of contacts across multiple industries on which to build new relationships for the business
