About Taiwan (TW) Engineering
TW engineering is dedicated engineering org for TW core business. Coupang started the business in TW at 2022 and the business is growing fast and we see many opportunities there. The team has end-to-end ownership on TW systems and works with TW business, product teams very closely.
The Role
As engineering director of the team, you will be responsible for team in Coupang India Tech Center - grow the team, build domain ownership, identify talent gaps and define team strategy and roadmap. This role will work with TW Product team and various stakeholders to build scalable system, globalize the stack, address bottlenecks, lead multi domain projects with other tech organizations. A successful candidate will be highly adaptable, possess strong interpersonal and organizational skill, be able to effectively manage multiple work streams, think tactically as well as strategically, strong engineering and hold the high bar on the engineering excellence.
In this role, you will:
- Lead one of TW engineering teams to enable TW business hyper growth. (e.g., SCM, Fulfillment, Marketing, CS, FDS)
- Hire and scale the team to support Coupang TW business growth.
- Build and manage a global & highly efficient engineering team.
- Align with stakeholders and lead engineers on mission critical projects to resolve complex problems for TW business.
- Drive high quality architecture and design, and keep raising the quality and design bar.
- Deep-dive and handle critical business, technical issues.
- Define and monitor the key metrics governing the your systems, with an eye toward continuously improving them through ongoing product innovation.
Key Experience
- 3+ years senior management experience, including managing managers;
- At least 10+ years of experience in designing, building and deploying scalable, highly available backend services developed in Java/web environment
- Track record of delivering large scale mission critical projects
- Track record of building high performing engineering organizations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Computer Science Degree or equivalent from a fully accredited college or university.

- Able to pitch and hold in depth discussions with the C-level stakeholders.
Preferred
- Prior experience in eCommerce systems;
- Prior strong experiences in leading and delivery company-wise tech initiatives.
- Prior experience to establish engineering excellence strategy for your systems and execute.
