Director, Amazon Marketplace

The Director of Marketplace Management is a gifted people leader and ecommerce marketplace expert responsible for coaching and developing their team while maximizing the performance of our marketplace channels. This director will collaborate with a number of internal teams like merchandising, retail operations, advertising and finance, as well as external marketplace partners to meet their goals. Ideal candidates will have had experience managing an ecommerce marketplace, working as an ecommerce seller, or managing accounts in an ecommerce accelerator or platform.

How you will achieve success:

  • Responsible for helping set the Amazon GMV projections, contribution margin goals, and marketplace fee goals. Identify process and system needs to maintain efficiency and accuracy and drive a culture of relentless improvement and teamwork. 
  • Completes projects and deliverables by the deadlines that are set internally or externally and consistent and professional communication with Amazon partners and other key stakeholders 
  • Work with the team to set revenue, ROI, COGS, traffic, conversion, ACOS targets that roll up to our overall revenue projections and they work with the software team and technical project managers to outline the technical needs and vision for the Amazon channel.  
  • Approaches relationship building with clear strategy.  Ensures we have weekly calls with Amazon team members across all areas we operate in. We also have frequent in person visits with Amazon to drive our agenda. Develops the 3 year vision for the Amazon channel and builds a team structure to successfully achieve this vision.   
  • Their team uses data to make informed decisions about the Amazon business and their team develops key reports with structured data to communicate Amazon performance to the company.  

What experiences will help you in this role:

  • 5+ years of Amazon selling experience and experience leading a team  
  • Extensive amount of relationships with Amazon contacts and experience with Seller Central and ideally Vendor Central  
  • Experience with Seller Fulfilled Prime  
  • Self-aware - you are an expert in building relationships, and you understand where your strengths/weaknesses are. 
  • Proficient in managing and driving a P&L and extensive negotiating experience with vendors and marketplaces.
