About the role
The Digital Media Technician will be responsible for creating digital media deliverables and packages in several formats for film and Series content. Technical knowledge of digital media and its core components, including video mezzanine formats, audio, metadata, subtitles, closed captions, and artwork is necessary. Tasks may include video and audio editorial; transcoding and encoding; frame rate conversions; video repairs and restoration; audio conforming/retiming; subtitle reformats; metadata XML creation/editorial; quality control. Extensive knowledge of video encoding and transcoding systems is essential. A background in processing UHD media is a plus. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, possesses a flexible attitude, and adapts quickly in a fast-paced environment. In addition, they must be able to work as part of a team that deals with changing priorities and workloads. Attention to detail and efficient multitasking is mandatory for the Digital Media (Encoding) Operator role.
Responsibilities
Audio and video program editing, conversion, compression, encoding, and quality assurance testing for theatrical and episodic releases
Efficiently utilize various tools and software for audio, video production, and quality check (audio/video editing, compression systems, encoders, decoders, converters, pre-processing systems, etc.)
Create and review metadata deliverables in various formats, including XML and JSON
Identify and address discrepancies in media files that may arise during the creation and calibration of production reference files and related projects
Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
Ability to operate under high-pressure situations and handle time-sensitive content
Effective communicator and positive team player
Able to work shifts that may include early morning or late evening hours and/or cross weekends
Requirements
Requirements
College degree in media or computer science or other related schooling (preferred)
3+ years in audio post-production or media service projects for film and Series
Familiarity with A/V editing software, including but not limited to Premiere, Colorfront’s Transkoder, Final Cut Pro, and Pro Tools
Strong technical skills and knowledge of tools and devices in digital media
Knowledge of UHD, HDR contents
Excel and other MS Office application software
Communication skills and positive attitude are necessary for the team environment
Deep sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with self-direction
Problem solver with creative and innovative approach and ability to think out of the box
Ability to efficiently self-manage time and priorities
Outstanding attention to detail
Flexibility to work on shifts
