About the role

We’re looking for a Digital Marketing Analyst to work with our search platform team, whose goal is to drive organic growth for Confused.com by supporting our in-house SEO function. We’re looking for someone who can help make the best use of our data to generate insight and optimise web assets in order to capture ranking traffic. The search platform team sits within our customer & marketing platform guild, who enable marketeers to improve their customer relationships and their ability to market quickly and effectively.

Our work requires familiarity with search data, a number of different analytics and database tools, as well as technical expertise to mine big datasets and a natural inquisitiveness to uncover stories within our data.

As a Digital Marketing  Analyst, you will be a crucial member of the team, working closely with the search marketing and content teams to understand performance, identify opportunities and surface new data points that will enhance the quality and accuracy of our content. Part of the role will also involve working with the PR team to respond to data requests, in order to build positive relationships, showcase our expertise and have a positive impact on our reputation as a customer champion.

You will be responsible for translating the requirements of your stakeholders to bring ideas to life and deliver on the business strategy, whilst also building up a reporting toolset to allow stakeholders to ‘self-serve’ wherever possible. You’ll also be able to build up a strong contextual knowledge of our data and our industry in order to proactively identify new opportunities to improve our performance, whilst acting as a data champion for the search marketing team by:

  • Visualising – Using strong visualisation techniques to create detailed engaging dashboards and reports to present performance trends and your search insights to relevant teams and business stakeholders.
  • Investigating – Diving into our search and in-house data to understand  performance, highlight where improvements could be made and sharing that insight with the relevant marketing teams to action. 
  • Enabling – Providing training guidance and support on how to understand data / reporting and promote self-service to improve overall analytical capability and autonomy across the business.
  • Researching - Keeping up to date with macroeconomic factors,market and search trends, while being able to interpret this accordingly to understand and measure the impact on our business performance.
  • Translating - Act as an analytics translator to bridge the gap between our engineers and our business stakeholders, to apply business context to our data products and deliver clearly understandable insight to our operational teams.
  • Analysing - Use your digital marketing and analytical skills to analyse competitor strategies to gain ranking insights and to help prioritise actions off the back of it


What you’ll bring to the role: 

  • You’re self-directed, passionate about data, and focused on delivering the right results to help solve customer and business problems 

  • Effective communication, data storytelling, and relationship building skills. Capable of independently identifying stories in the data and presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Familiarity with the financial services industry, and a good understanding of key drivers in the price comparison market

  • Experience and understanding of search metrics, with a sound knowledge of the levers which can be used to improve search performance

  • Create professional standard dashboards and reports, driving engagement from stakeholders with the ability to clearly convey messaging around performance trends.

  • Ability to lead by example and be a positive influence on the team around you, demonstrating good practice in reporting, visualisation and analytics, while supporting the development of our data culture

  • Solid technical skills with SQL (preferably with Databricks and BigQuery), Tableau (or other visualisation tools), Google Sheets, Google Search Console and Google Analytics tools
