About the job
Reporting to the Engineering Manager (
Rémy Léone), you will be in charge of writing code for real-life use cases, improving, testing support in the devtools for all Scaleway products and improve the overall developer experience of Scaleway.
You will be responsible for:
- Working on the transversal engineering activities within your Product teams.
- Assigning to different team and improving developer tools support for those teams.
- Collaborating with the different Product teams to help determine how to improve the developer experience on the many different products of Scaleway’s catalog.
- Sending contributions to upstream projects that are shared across the complete open source community to improve Scaleway native support in them.
- Reviewing the internal and external collaborations in our open-source projects.
You will have a good overview of the transversal engineering stack provided by all the different Product teams and internal services of Scaleway.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work with multiple teams. The DevTools team works with all of Scaleway’s Product teams therefore you need to have a lot of flexibility and understanding the context of many different product team that you will be assigned to.
- Experience as a system administrator and/or backend engineer. Most of our product are related to cloud engineering, therefore knowledge of what a good developer experience is for system administrators is a big plus.
- Knowledge of cloud providers and/or system administration. Having experience with other cloud providers, their tools is a HUGE plus to understand how they are different from us and how we can gain from their design.
- Very good command of English and French
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of one strongly typed language (Preferably Go but Java, C, C++, Rust are also valid).
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Knowledge of Terraform is a BIG plus)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines helps. We produce and administrate a large software pipeline. Being familiar with shell scripting and CI configuration goes a long way.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development tools for many products and improve Scaleway developer experience
- Build transversal knowledge for each of our cloud products
- Support the technical issues in our open-source projects (roadmap definition, bug reports, feature requests)
- Identify issues in the developer tools / products before a client does
- Understand the different upstream projects existing in the cloud native ecosystem and understand how Scaleway could improve its integration with them
