Your responsibilities
Are you passionate about technology and interested in supporting the CERN research communities collaborating with industries ? Join the CERN IT Platforms Group and the team responsible for hosting some of the most Java critical applications that are developed at CERN. The team is also responsible to provide Kubernetes platform to Single Sign-On service and Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) Identity and Access.
As a member of the team you will:
- Work with cloud-native technologies and Kubernetes to innovate existing production services.
- Work on R&D projects that are of strategic interest for both parties.
- Transform the CERN Oracle REST Data Services installation in a more cloud-native deployment profiting of GitOps and Kubernetes Operator principles.
- Collaborate with the Database team to implement innovative approach to manage lifecycle of Oracle Databases via Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with our industry partner Oracle in the context of the openlab framework, a unique public-private partnership that works to accelerate the development of cutting-edge ICT solutions for the worldwide LHC community and wider scientific research.
- Share results and work in several contexts inside and outside CERN community.
Your profile
Required Skills
- Experience in cloud native technologies, particularly Kubernetes
- Experience in Linux system administration
- Problem solving attitude
- Flexibility and willing to learn new things and technologies
Considerate as plus
- CKA/CKAD/CKS certification
- Oracle Database experience
- Oracle Data REST Service experience
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.

By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

What we offer
- A monthly stipend ranging between 5134 and 5647 Swiss Francs (net of tax).
