The DevOps Engineer is responsible for delivering technical solutions throughout a project’s development life cycle, from design through post-launch support. This role is expected to coordinate, support and work with multiple delocalized technical teams in multiple regions. The DevOps Engineer reports to the Sr. Product Manager to ensure new product launches and existing deployments satisfy our internal and external clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and enrich our platform components by leveraging open source software; drive modernization of core Data Management and Delivery systems.
- Member of the Data Management and Delivery DevOps team contributing to solution design, development and deployment, mentoring other platform team members to increase their technical and soft skills.
- Use knowledge of open source, cloud (particularly AWS), and devops technologies to build new platform products for use across Nielsen’s product portfolio.
- Design and implement low-latency networking products.
- Ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of production systems.
- Build automated tests, monitoring and alerting mechanisms to help assure quality and stability of various services.
- System troubleshooting and problem-solving across the platform.
- Suggest and implement best practices and architecture improvements.
- Utilize best in class code automation strategies.
- Contribute to better cost management through efficient utilization of compute and storage resources.
- Document processes and maintain software development records.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Multiple years of experience in a DevOps role contributing to critical projects
- Intensive knowledge of most core DevOps concepts and tools spanning source control, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, alerting, and logging
- Extensive proficiency with Java, Python, Scala, and SQL; this includes all aspects from development through to production (build tools, deployment tools, deployment methods, configuration strategies, etc)
- Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud Computing (scalability and optimization)
- Knowledge of orchestration frameworks (e.g. Airflow) and containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with automation technologies such as Terraform, Gitlab, etc.
- Experience with Big Data (Hive, Spark, Trino, etc.) is a plus
- Scrum Agile development experience
- Fluid in written and spoken English
- Must have a CAN-DO attitude
