What We Do

We build Calm’s product, guide Calm’s analysis, secure Calm’s data, and operate the platforms that underpin it all. We’re product-minded, team-oriented, and grounded in the mission of making the world a happier and healthier place. We work closely with every part of Calm from Legal to Customer Experience, and partner on every initiative from content launches to B2B.

We are highly collaborative and focused on building scalable and foundational services for other engineering teams. Our team provides the services and systems that power a global distribution of content from Calm’s many content partners and producers. You will be responsible for owning, maintaining, and scaling Calm’s distributed backend infrastructure.

We are hiring remote workers for this role in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City, or Minneapolis areas. At this time, only candidates in these locations will be considered.

What You’ll Do

You will be a part of Calm’s core infrastructure team, and help guide efforts across engineering to build a scalable, reliable platform that millions around the world depend on. 

  • Systems performance tuning with a focus on high availability and scalability
  • Application and infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Assist engineering team with accelerating processes through automation
  • Ensure we are up to date on the latest patches, security issues through automation and building security into our SDLC processes 
  • Accelerate code velocity and enhance the developer experience to improve ship time across the organization
  • Continually improve reliability of systems and workflows
  • Championing the concepts of immutable containers, Infrastructure as Code, stateless applications, and software observability throughout the organization

Who You Are

  • 3+ years experience in DevOps
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Familiar with:
    • AWS or GCP (Prefer GCP) 
    • Terraform
    • Kubernetes
    • Docker
    • GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD
    • Golang
    • Cloud architecture
    • Advanced networking concepts and design

Calm uses a geographic pay model that determines salaries based on the location where an employee lives. For this position, the base pay ranges across Calm’s pay tiers is as follows: $99,900 - $207,200

The base pay range represents the low and high end of Calm’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

Calm uses employee zip code to determine which pay range applies.

This role is also eligible for equity + comprehensive benefits + 401k + flexible time off.
