ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to work with R&D teams designing & building software-defined automation solutions for modern factories. Our integrated solution consists of both on-prem infrastructure like full network stack (with switches, routers, firewalling) and Cloud-native software applications running on-prem and in the Cloud to operate and monitor the robotic assembly lines.

DevOps Engineer at Bright Machines designs, builds & manages scalable & secure infrastructure, set-up CI/CD pipelines and tools to enable fast-paced development of mission-critical & complex industrial automation applications. 

You will work directly with R&D, Software Engineering, and IT teams to develop CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure. Our software is designed to be cloud native with the ability to deploy both on-cloud and on-prem infrastructure. Your expertise will be pivotal in developing and operating our stack, which includes:
- AWS and Azure as Cloud providers
- Terraform and Ansible for Infrastructure as Code
- Docker and Kubernetes
- GitLab CI/CD and GitOps practices

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Be the champion of industry standard best-practices to establish a strong DevOps culture.
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure for running applications and automation systems.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and continuous delivery of software updates.
  • Implement and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting systems, for troubleshooting and ensuring high availability & reliability of the services.
  • Drive “shift-left & shift-right” on security. Ensure scans, compliance with the policies and best practices, including vulnerability management and incident response.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for supporting the CI/CD pipelines.

WHAT WE WANT TO SEE

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps role.
  • Proven track-record of building & maintaining Cloud Infrastructure for mission critical SaaS applications / services.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and GitOps methodologies.
  • Experienced writing code in Python and Shell scripts on Linux.
  • Expertise in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible etc.).
  • Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes & containerization tools.
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana).

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE

  • Experience with more recent forms of CI/CD pipelines: MLOps and DevSecOps
  • Experience supporting a developer base on MacOS and Windows, in addition to Linux
