Schuberg Philis is the only Dutch-based Akamai partner at Platinum level. Our Akamai customer team works with the full Akamai portfolio for companies within the financial services and retail market. Our customers heavily rely on Akamai products like Kona Site Defender, Edge DNS and Bot Manager. We also focus on the Zero Trust area using Enterprise Application Access and Enterprise Threat Protector.

The Akamai team is responsible for the complete integration, configuration and automation of the Akamai services we offer to our customers. We manage these environments end-to-end. You are working with the entire organization at the customer side, which includes a lot of moving elements. We are really focused on the scalability of our customers traffic, which is global most of the time.

 

What will you be doing?

As an DevOps Engineer Akamai, you are at the forefront of the customer. All activities are on the edge of innovation. You will join a team of colleagues that is creative, gives each other puzzles to solve, challenges one another and keeps each other on edge. Being a pioneer in everything that is Akamai.

You have a passion for cybersecurity and a good understanding of critical IT environments. You advise our customers on how to utilize automation alongside Akamai, with a keen eye on performance. To do so, you will collaborate with our customers closely, advise them on possible solutions and configurations to manage vulnerabilities in their domain. You will work on improving effective usage of cloud infrastructure and bandwidth by managing bot traffic. In addition, you will be working on daily operations, integrations and configurations.

In this environment, AWS is used as a SaaS/PaaS provider and we use Terraform to manage this. Most of the code is written in Python, with sprinkles of Golang and bash. Gitlab and Docker are used for pipelines.

 

What makes you successful in this role?

You have worked in a customer-facing role, have experience with a Web Application Firewall (WAF) or Content Delivery Network (CDN), like Akamai, Cloudflare, Amazon CloudFront, Fastly, Google Cloud CDN or Microsoft Azure CDN. In addition to that, you have the following experience:

  • You bring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues with Akamai-based services, including network connectivity issues, caching inconsistencies, and configuration errors, using Akamai’s diagnostic tools and support resources
  • Experience with SSL, TLS encryption, DNS
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Scripting experience (preferably Python, bash) and managing configuration through code
  • Experience with HTTP, network & internet protocols
  • Skills in performance monitoring, log analysis, and data visualization to track and analyse the performance of Akamai-based services
  • You are structured and bring experience in the area of either solution architecture and project management.

Experience in complex (AWS) environments and working with Edge (Computing / Networking / Security) would be a big plus.
