We are looking for an experienced Development Director (DD) who is passionate about driving software and plays a key part in our game development teams. You are a force multiplier for the teams and will partner with producers and stakeholders to manage scope, capacity, risk management and reporting.
In this role, you will organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operations of the team. You will work closely with team managers and producers to develop policies and procedures for team operations. As part of the work, you will manage game development teams in designing, developing, operating, and administering to ensure deliverables are delivered on time and on schedule.
In this role, you can expect to be involved in:
- You will be responsible for setting up process, capacity planning, reporting and quality for the teams
- You will help to create Jira ticket for tasks, issues based on demand and prioritization of the requested work
- You will work closely with producers and stakeholders to plan roadmap, schedule, scope planning, tracks risks and dependencies based on the project goals for your teams
- You will guide the delivery of content and features for your teams
- You will conduct milestone planning, track team progress, and provide regular status updates
- You will plays a leadership role in managing and cultivating the teams
- You will facilitate risk assessments and mitigation strategies when needed
- You will lead your team to seek improvement to process, solve problems, balance priorities, and find creative solutions that achieve positive results
- You will advocate for, and empower the team, making sure they have everything they need to shine in their position
- You will provide an environment where team members understand how their daily work contributes to the product and company goals
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business administration, or in a related field
- 7+ years of project management and team leadership experience in game development or equivalent.
- 4+ years of proven experience managing projects, help drive career development and work performance
- Applied experience in multiple project management methodologies such as waterfall and agile.
- Experience in managing art, design, data, and engineering in all phases of development
- Confident in decision-making that draws upon experience and best practices
- Proficient with Jira, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Google workspace or equivalent software
- Good understanding of games as a service business model
- PMP or equivalent certification is an asset
