Developer Relations Manager

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Developer Relations Manager to join our Product and Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with developers, partners, and stakeholders within the education technology ecosystem. You will serve as a liaison between our company and external developers, advocating for their needs while also representing our products and platform.

What you will be doing

  • Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with developers, technology partners, and third-party vendors to drive collaboration and innovation within the education software community.
  • Technical Advocacy: Act as a technical evangelist for our products and platform, providing guidance, support, and resources to developers integrating with our APIs and other integration tools.
  • Feedback Gathering: Gather feedback from external developer partners to inform product roadmap decisions, identify areas for improvement, and help prioritize feature enhancements.
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain developer documentation, tutorials, blog posts, guides and other educational resources to facilitate smooth integration and usage of our technology.
  • Community Building: Organize and participate in developer events, technical committees, hackathons, webinars, and conferences to foster community engagement and knowledge sharing.
  • Internal Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other cross-functional teams to align developer needs with product strategy and development priorities.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting guidance to developers encountering issues or challenges during integration or development that can’t be resolved by our support team.
  • Certification Programs.  Define and manage LTI certification requirements and program execution to help administrators identify high quality integrations. 

Essentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (3-4 years) in developer relations, developer advocacy, or a similar role within the software industry.
  • Strong technical background and familiarity with APIs, SDKs, and web technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Passion for education technology and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the edtech ecosystem.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with developer tools, platforms, and workflows (e.g., GitHub, JIRA, Slack) is a plus.

Preferences

  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Ruby, JavaScript, Python, Java)
  • Professional experience in education, education technology, or a related field
  • An inquisitive desire to learn new and emerging technologies (e.g. ML, LLM, AI)
  • Knowledge of interoperability standards used in education technology and experience working with standard setting organizations (eg 1EdTech, EdFi)
