Design Systems Development: Develop, manage, and optimize design systems for powertrain architecture, ensuring alignment with product and performance specifications.

Collaborative Engineering: Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to integrate powertrain components into complete systems.

System Integration: Oversee integration of powertrain components (engine, transmission, drivetrain, etc.) into the vehicle platform while ensuring compatibility and performance.

Simulation & Testing: Lead simulations and validation efforts to evaluate the design system performance, ensuring compliance with standards and resolving any issues identified during testing.

Design Optimization: Continuously optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, performance, and reliability while adhering to project timelines.

Technical Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, design reports, and specifications for powertrain systems and components.

Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvements for the design, testing, and validation of powertrain components.

Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Provide engineering support during troubleshooting, addressing complex design challenges related to powertrain integration and system performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure design systems are aligned with project objectives and deliverables.
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program
- Engineering experience with an emphasis base engine, engine dress and emissions components
- Strong leader with entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to sell ideas to all stakeholders
- Diagnostics and On-board communication systems know-how
- Proven capability in problem solving and root-causing
- Must be self-sufficient with ability to influence and lead others without formal authority.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to lead and manage suppliers.
- Must be able to manage multiple concurrent activities.
- Some travel required to supplier and vehicle assembly plants in US.
- Experience in component costing (variable cost and investment)
- Solid understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer from a practical standpoint
- Understanding of electrical circuits, components and their operating principles
- Familiarity with powertrain software and controls
- Experience with cooling-specific and total vehicle testing including NVH
- Experience in DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) proactive and/or reactive quality tools
- Working knowledge of UG/NX CAD systems
- Experience in component costing (variable cost and investment)
- Solid understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer from a practical standpoint
- Understanding of electrical circuits, components and their operating principles
- Familiarity with powertrain software and controls
- Experience with Air Induction and Exhaust-specific and total vehicle testing including NVH
- Experience in DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) proactive and/or reactive quality tools
- Working knowledge of UG/NX CAD systems
- Proven experience in program management with the ability to set a timeline and execute at the required milestones.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with automotive cooling components and the guiding principles of operation behind them.
- Ability to proactively communicate with other colleagues, stakeholders, program management, and supervisors
- Experience and confidence in communicating status to a varied audience including top management
- Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team
- General knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes including molding, stamping, welding, brazing, machining, casting, and coatings.
- Ability and knowledge to create effective presentations
- High level of experience with MS Office tools
- Knowledge of automotive underhood packaging and general automotive assembly practices
- Ability to review and apply component and system Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)s and DVP&Rs
- Basic financial understanding with ability to maintain program budget
- Availability for business trips
- DI Analyzer/CDA and CANalyzer practice
- Proven capability to develop parts/systems in co-design with third parties (Tier1s)
- Requirements Management / Change Management basics
- Proven experience in program management with the ability to set a timeline and execute at the required milestones.
