Your Mission
We are looking for a Design System Manager to ensure the continued growth and scalability of our design system, PIXAR. This role is essential for maintaining consistency and efficiency across multiple platforms, working closely with product, design, and development teams.
Reporting to the Head of Product Design, you will be a key part of the Design Team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work closely with the Design System Guild, a group of expert engineers dedicated to maintaining and evolving the system. Together, you will ensure the design system adapts to the company’s growth.
Your Responsibilities

Industrialization Strategy: Develop a strategic vision for industrialising the design system, reducing reliance on manual updates, and increasing efficiency, consistency and integration with product and engineering pipelines.

System Performance and Efficiency: Ensure the design system is optimised for performance and scalability, so it can meet future product demands.

Accessibility and Compliance: Ensure the design system is fully compliant with accessibility standards (WCAG, RGAA), and automate accessibility checks where possible to streamline compliance without additional manual effort.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Designers, Content and Localization team, UX Research, Brand team, product teams, and development to continuously iterate and improve the design system based on data, ensuring the system evolves to meet changing user and product needs.

Design System's maintenance and documentation: Ensure all guidelines, components, and processes are easily accessible. Automate updates and component management wherever possible to maintain consistency.
Your Qualifications
- Experience with automation tools and workflows for design systems, including the use of design tokens and automated updates.
- Extensive experience with Figma, including managing shared component libraries and Tokens, focusing on automation and system integration.
- Strong understanding of frontend development, particularly how design systems are implemented in code (e.g., experience with any component-based frontend framework, regardless of platform, such as React, Compose or SwiftUI, experience with GitHub)
- Proven experience in significantly building or reshaping a design system from the ground up, with a focus on scalability, industrialization, and automation.
- Strong experience in creating and maintaining documentation for design systems, ensuring that guidelines, standards, and processes are clearly communicated and easily accessible for both designers and developers.
- Strong understanding of accessibility best practices and how to integrate them into a design system.
- Ability to clearly articulate the design system’s rationale and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with both design and development teams.
- Proven ability to mentor designers to embrace opinionated design system processes.
- Fluency in English
