We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Lead to join our team in support of a major opportunity with the Maryland Department of Labor. The Design Lead will be responsible for overseeing all user research and design work and will coordinate closely with product owners designated by the State to develop a shared vision that represents the needs of the Maryland Department of Labor and the users of the system. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and implementing digital services for a government entity (Federal, State, or Local), with a strong preference for candidates with State of Maryland experience.
o - Oversee all user research and design work for the FAMLI Agile Services project
- Coordinate closely with product owners designated by the State to develop a shared vision that represents the needs of the Maryland Department of Labor and the users of the system
- Develop and implement a human-centered design process that incorporates user feedback and testing
- Create and prioritize a list of tasks the user is trying to accomplish, also known as "user stories"
- Test prototypes of solutions with real people, in the field if possible
- Document the findings about user goals, needs, behaviors, and preferences
- Share findings with others on the team and stakeholders
- Identify pain points in the current way users perform their tasks and prioritize these according to anticipated user needs
- Ensure that the design work is in compliance with the United States Web Design System and the State of Maryland Information Technology Security Manual
o Requirements:
o - Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing digital services for a government entity (Federal, State, or Local), with a strong preference for candidates with State of Maryland experience
- Experience in developing and implementing a human-centered design process that incorporates user feedback and testing
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with product owners, engineers, and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of the United States Web Design System and the State of Maryland Information Technology Security Manual
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
