Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Deputy Director, Operations (South Branch). The Deputy Director, Operations (South Branch) will lead a motivated team of managers and associates. This position requires a broad understanding of all operational functions within the Operations Department. The Deputy Director, Operations (South Branch) will implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, cross-functionally collaborate to achieve those goals, and lead a team of professionals who support all the South Branch’s active operations and development activities.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization quickly becoming a household name in disaster response and humanitarianism. This position reports to TR’s Director, Operations (South Branch) and is based in Atlanta, GA.

Duties:

  • Lead Branch initiatives to recruit, engage, and train Greyshirts (volunteers) and volunteer leaders following organizational objectives.
  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of employees including the Operations Support Manager, and Operations Support Associates, including functional areas (Planning, Logistics, Mobilization, Training, Field Leadership, and Communications).
  • Develop team performance goals and objectives while mentoring direct reports and managers on performance management; provide strategic direction in developing individual staff, volunteer leaders, and functionally focused teams within the branch.
  • Coordinate closely with organizational departments and cross-functional teams to identify, broker, and develop potential partnerships for disaster response engagement implementation and provide end-to-end operational support.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and impactful delivery of Team Rubicon services to clients and disaster survivors by staying informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
  • Accountable for quality assurance of operational data and documentation for active operations and closeout package completion of demobilized operations.
  • Develop and implement internal Branch communication, meeting cadence, reporting, and business processes.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental efforts and support for mission planning, operational execution, and growth projects and initiatives.
  • Recommend procurement, within budgetary allocation, of goods and services necessary for efficient administration and effective execution of Disaster Response and Humanitarian activation.

Experience and Background:

  • 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in the military, disaster operations, emergency management, or operations management space.
  • Excellent personnel management and leadership experience such as recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers.
  • Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with an extensive network of TR staff members, Greyshirts, and external stakeholders.
  • Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with cross-functional and multi-level effectiveness.

Special Requirements:

  • This is a full time; remote position based in the South Branch (GA [Atlanta, GA preferred]) and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided).
  • Evening and weekend schedule supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations.
  • Local Travel: Reliable transportation is required. The person filling this position will be expected to travel within their local area to support ongoing efforts.
  • Other Travel: At least 25% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities focused within the assigned territory.

Pay Range:

  • $93,087 - $139,630
