Syngenta is delighted to offer the opportunity to earn as you learn, with all tuition fees paid for a 5-year degree apprenticeship through the University of Kent in Applied Chemical Science BSc (Hons). This is a flexible and inclusive programme which includes, on average, 1-day per week of online learning, with occasional onsite workshops at the University which are paid for through the programme.

Successful candidates will work on real projects in the laboratory four days a week and study towards their degree one day a week at our state-of-the-art research centre in Jealott’s Hill (Bracknell).  During the apprenticeship you will gain varied laboratory-based experience working across three different departments; product research, development and analysis, learning the skills and techniques required to be successful in each area.

Your role, as part of a flexible team, will be to generate, analyse and interpret data, carry out problem solving, and report on your findings, contributing to Syngenta’s mission to sustainably feed the planet, while growing as a scientist and working towards your degree.

About you

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) - grades A* - C 9/4 including Science, maths and English is essential.
  • You must have a total of 80 UCAS points including preferably a B or higher in A-Level Chemistry or equivalent – we will accept predicted grades in the screening process and offers will be subject to receiving acceptable points/grades. Alternative experience and qualifications will be considered.
  • You will live a commutable distance from our Jealott’s Hill site near Bracknell, or willing and able to relocate at your own expense.

Jealott's Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff.  Jealott’s Hill is one of the main global research and development sites and key activities include research into discovery of new active ingredients, new formulation technologies, product safety and technical support of our product range.
