The DBA Admin will be responsible for designing and managing AWS RDS and on-premise PostgreSQL MYSQL and Oracle databases. This position will collaborate with internal customers to capture requirements, design, create, document, manage and satisfy requests for on-going and/or adhoc requirements, dashboards, and scorecards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Achieves organizational goals by defining, integrating, and upgrading a comprehensive architecture to support critical applications, platforms, and databases.
- Designs and maintains databases by determining structural requirements, and developing and installing appropriate solutions.
- Ensures integrity and security of all information and computer systems and digital data including PII.
- Ensures adherence to government regulations and contractual requirements for technological systems and safeguarding of data. Recommends upgrades and systems for purchase.
- Troubleshoots and finds solutions for distributed compute systems issues that affect data storage and performance as they arise. Defines infrastructure for design and integration of cloud computing systems by analyzing information requirements and directing development of physical databases.
- Advises and provides direction on platform architecture, technology, and tools. Confirms architecture capability and flexibility to support high availability database systems.
- Is a leader in defining and managing Nielsen’s database platforms.
- Plan and design database migrations to the Cloud
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of Nielsen processes and standards Database and compute architecture and design Problem-solving capability
- Ability to clearly present technical information to technical, non-technical peers and leadership Scripting skills (bash, sql, terraform, plsql, python)
- Project management Presentation and communication skills Leadership in technology Integrity and trustworthiness with confidential data
- Expert knowledge and experience of one or more Nielsen’s standard database technologies: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MYSQL, SQL Server, Sybase, MongoDB
- Expert with Cloud database technologies, preferably AWS Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or information systems; master’s degree a plus 8 years previous experience as a Senior Database Administrator Certifications are a plus.
