Job Summary

As a Database Administrator at Urbint, you will play a key role in managing and maintaining our database systems, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. This mid to senior-level role requires an experienced professional who can handle complex database environments, work cross-functionally, and contribute to strategic database planning and decision-making. 

What You'll Do

  • Database Management: Manage and maintain multiple databases, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures to optimize query processing and system performance.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime.
  • Database Security: Implement and enforce database security policies, procedures, and controls to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Data Migration: Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching with minimal disruption to the business.
  • Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning and forecasting to ensure the database environment can handle current and future demands.
  • Automation: Develop scripts and tools to automate routine database maintenance tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Incident Management: Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing timely support to the development and operations teams.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Who You Are

  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience in database administration, with a strong background in managing large-scale, complex database environments.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or similar is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of database design, indexing, and normalization.
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
  • Familiarity with database security best practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate are a plus.
