We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure environments. The primary responsibilities include reviewing and optimizing queries, ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability of the database, and managing overall database health. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in performance tuning, and capable of diagnosing and addressing performance bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and fine-tune SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes to ensure efficient performance across the system.
  • Monitor database performance, diagnose issues, and proactively recommend and implement solutions to optimize database efficiency.
  • Maintain, administer, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases both on-premises and in Azure.
  • Work closely with development teams to review SQL code and ensure adherence to best practices for optimal query performance.
  • Monitor database capacity and performance metrics and provide insights and projections for future growth.
  • Manage backups, perform recovery tests, and ensure data integrity and high availability of databases.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies, ensuring the protection of sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with development and architecture teams to design efficient database structures that meet business needs.
  • Develop and implement scripts and automation tasks for routine maintenance and reporting activities.
  • Manage and optimize Azure SQL Databases and other related Azure cloud services for database hosting and scaling.
  • Identify and resolve database-related issues promptly, including deadlocks, performance bottlenecks, and connection issues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth database operations and participate in technical discussions for project planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server and Azure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Managed Instances.
  • Proficiency in database backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
  • In-depth understanding of T-SQL and stored procedure development.
  • Familiarity with database performance monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs).
  • Experience with database security and compliance management.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly in Azure.
  • Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and OLAP DB is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server or Azure (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, or Azure Database Administrator Associate).
  • Experience with DevOps processes and database automation.
  • Familiarity with other database platforms such as MySQL, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Experience in database migration to the cloud.
