Reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics, we are seeking a Data Scientist to source, organize, and prepare complex datasets for building analytical and reporting models that address enterprise business challenges. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining analytical and machine learning models, as well as effectively communicating findings through storytelling and visualization to drive action. Additionally, the Data Scientist will design data integration processes and utilize database systems to ensure the sustainability and usability of models within the organization.
What You Will Do:
- Analyze and coordinate large datasets to extract actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Structure, cleanse, and process disparate data through innovative ETL methods to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Identify and clarify data requirements, addressing missing values, duplicates, and formatting issues to enhance data usability.
- Design, build, and maintain analytical and machine learning models, establishing clear engagement plans that include problem statements and outcome predictions.
- Apply various analytical techniques (statistical, predictive, descriptive, and classification models) to derive broad conclusions from datasets.
- Create meaningful data visualizations that effectively communicate findings and demonstrate business impact.
- Collaborate with data architecture and quality teams to ensure alignment in data collection and integration processes.
- Manage stakeholders’ requirements and understand their needs Document processes clearly to ensure reusability and consider non-functional requirements like scalability and maintainability in technology exploration.
What We Are Looking For:
- A few years of experience leading teams in the field of data analytics or data science, turning data into insights and providing insights
- Knowledge of scripting programing languages and experiences including but not limited to Python, R, and SQL
- Understanding of technology, specifically Microsoft Azure
- Demonstrated experiences in consulting skills and ability to communicate complex concepts into simplified cogent explanations
- Knowledge of data quality framework and experiences in implementing data quality practices would be an asset
- A degree in a program of study related to computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, geomatics, business analytics or a related combination of learning and experience an asset
- Experience working in a public sector or with a public sector entity an asset

The salary range for this position is $71,300 to $107,000 with a corresponding job level of P3
