Data Scientist in Security Field

About the Position:

We are looking for an innovative and driven Data Scientist to join our Security Operations Center Technology (SOCT) squad at DT Technik. In this role, you will apply advanced data science techniques to enhance your organization's security posture and protect against evolving cyber threats.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a completely new task within the team, working closely with the cybersecurity team. You will lead the effort to design and implement a machine learning models from the ground up, aimed at identifying anomalies in log data and inventory databases to detect security threats.

This position is ideal for an experienced Data Scientist who is eager to take ownership of building new solutions, even if prior experience in the security field is not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement machine learning models to analyze large datasets and identify patterns
  • Develop algorithms to flag potential security issues and anomalies in log data and inventory databases
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams (Security Analysts and Engineers) to ensure the models and algorithms align with operational needs and to integrate data-driven solutions into existing security infrastructure
  • Design and maintain data pipelines for processing security-related information
  • Conduct research on emerging threats and develop innovative approaches to address them
  • Optimize and automate security processes using data science techniques
  • Provide technical expertise and support for security incident investigations
  • Utilize tools and platforms such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Elastic Stack, Trellix Intrusion Detection System
  • Document workflows, models, and findings to ensure transparency and reproducibility

Required Skills:

  • Studies in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data science or a related field, (preferably with a focus on security applications)

Advanced Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling techniques
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java
  • Expertise in supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques
  • Experience with neural networks and deep learning frameworks
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Basic Knowledge:

  • Linux and Windows operating system basics
  • Networking fundamentals

Optional Skills:

  • Proficiency in German is a plus but not required
  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threats, and best practices
  • Knowledge of network security protocols and encryption techniques
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH) are a plus
  • Domain expertise in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, anomaly detection, and risk assessment
