Data Scientist - Image Processing and Computer Vision

Role Overview

We are looking for ML/AI specialists at all seniority levels to join the Qualco Centre for Applied Research and Technology (QART). We at QART are rapidly expanding our activities in ML/AI and among other initiatives, we are focusing on Image processing and computer vision, where we work on object identification and labelling, semantic segmentation, and object tracking. Images/streaming video may be generated by remote sensing platforms, aerial-based photography, drones, and static cameras. The sensors may include optical or thermal, SAR, LIDAR, and similar technologies. Our ultimate objective may be UAV autonomy, situational awareness, medical imaging applications, fault/defect detection in manufacturing processes etc.

A Day in the Life of a Data Scientist at Qualco will include:

• Exploratory data analysis and model-fitting to reveal data features of interest.
• Identifying and analysing anomalous data (including metadata).
• Developing conceptual design and models to address project requirements.
• Developing qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing datasets.
• Performing analytic modelling, scripting, and/or programming.
• Creating and using simulation environments.
• Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for visualisation and user interaction.
• Working collaboratively and iteratively throughout the data-science lifecycle.
• Evaluating, documenting, and communicating research processes, analyses, and results to customers, peers, and leadership.
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.

Requirements

What we are looking for   

•  Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or similar. Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas are highly desirable.
• At least 2 years of experience with designing/implementing machine learning, data mining, advanced analytical algorithms, data science, advanced statistical analysis, artificial intelligence is highly recommended.
• Proven experience in deep learning.
• Programming experience in Matlab and/or Python or other similar computer language.
• Familiarity with Scikit-learn, Keras/Tensorflow, PyTorch and other relevant machine-learning frameworks.
• Good knowledge of SQL.
• Tenacity, integrity, persistence, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to solve complex problems, critical thinking, and reasoning.
• Strong communication and team-playing skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluency in Greek & English, spoken and written.
