What We Need

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist to join our talented Insights and Analytics team in developing and refining our player-centric experimentation strategy enabling data-informed decision-making for an emerging IP in the 2K portfolio.

The ideal candidate is adept at using advanced statistical and causal inference techniques to drive experimentation strategies and is passionate about shaping the research direction by developing tools and methods that increase the rigor and efficiency of experimentation platforms and analyses. The right candidate will have a strong understanding of a player-centric approach, ensuring that our team’s experimentation strategy aligns with player needs, feedback, and behavior. This approach ensures that experiments are not only methodologically rigorous but also directly relevant to improving the player experience, leading to more impactful and actionable results.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for discovering new and innovative solutions and a talent for predicting potential implications and outcomes of myriad approaches and decisions based on historical outcomes of our own products and competing franchises, current and past, throughout the industry.

This role requires a strong relationship builder, as they will partner closely with key cross-functional publishing teams to identify, model, and execute solutions.  They must be an articulate communicator and instill the same in their team to ensure key findings are shared in a clear and timely manner, maximizing impact and influence on a wide range of live service and commercial business decisions.  Sounds amazing, right? What You Will Do

  • Skillfully identify and apply analytics, causal inference, experimentation, and machine learning techniques to address and resolve specific business challenges.
  • Lead the design and implementation of experiments by translating business objectives into testable hypotheses, and driving the analysis and interpretation to inform live services strategies.
  • Actively conduct data exploration on player engagement behaviors to identify future opportunities.
  • Build & maintain stakeholder relationships with cross-functional teams through effective technical and non-technical cross-functional communication.
  • Analyze, visualize, and communicate the ongoing performance trends, strategic insights, and optimization recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Partner with Data Engineering, Data QA, and Central Tech teams to define analytical requirements, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data required to implement and enable experiments that align with business objectives.
  • Up-level others on the team through mentorship and peer review using your experience and domain expertise.

What Will Make You A Great Fit

  • 5+ years of professional experience with data scripting languages (SQL, python, R, etc.)
  • In depth understanding and experience using supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
  • Solid understanding of causal inference methods (such as propensity score matching, synthetic control methods, etc.)
  • Experience applying statistical analysis, machine learning, and experimental design in a consumer-facing business context.
  • Proficient with the creation of rich data visualizations and visual story-telling, using platforms such as Tableau.
  • Experience with project management and communication tools such as Asana, Confluence, JIRA, and Slack.
  • Experience balancing technical problem-solving with clear and concise communication, ensuring transparency with partners.
  • Independent thinker who can take the initiative and approach problem-solving with an innovative mindset and focus on scalable solutions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and thinking through multiple perspectives with the ability to stay grounded in the face of change
  • Plus: Experience in building experimentation platforms and causal inference solutions
  • Plus: Video games industry experience.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $87,400 and $130,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
