Reporting to the Data Protection lead in the Risk and Compliance space you will be working to provide an excellent standard of data protection advice and oversight services across OVO Retail.  

We believe there’s more to life than “ticking-the-box” and being called only when something goes wrong.  The Regulation and Compliance team are at the front line with everyone else working towards OVO’s vision and goals, truly integrated in the OVO business.

 

This role in a nutshell:

The focus of the role is on Data Protection Impact Assessments and responding to Data Protection information requests, advising the business on how to balance their business goals with our customers interests.  This also includes providing expert advice and oversight and other activities which deliver a best in class approach to Data Protection risk management.

You will be working closely with senior management and teams across all of OVO Group to make sure that we support the business in their innovative projects and manage data appropriately.

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Keeping on top of data Protection tickets and Data Protection Impact Assessments raised through Jira Service Desk.
  • Helping to refresh the DIA and Privacy by Design and Default Process.

Within your first 3 months month you’ll:

  • Be known within the business  and by key collaborators as a trusted expert within Data Protection

You’ll be a successful Data Protection Specialist here at OVO if you…

  • Are comfortable at juggling multiple things at once! There will be a lot to do; you’re able to keep on top of it all and are prompt in delivery.
  • Have deep subject matter expertise of GDPR and associated regulations, and experience in practically applying those regulations in an innovative way
  • Have proven skills in translating complex legislation or legal advice into specific and clear business-focused guidance.
  • Have highly commercial and constructive problem solving abilities. The OVO compliance, legal & risk teams pride themselves on ‘finding a way’.
  • Are highly responsive and proactive – we build bridges as well as fight fires.
  • Are a great communicator able to communicate effectively with internal collaborators, data protection authorities and customers where appropriate
  • Are a great teammate who can also work comfortably autonomously.
  • Are able to juggle a full workload with rapidly shifting priorities.

We’ll pay you between £48,000 and £64,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, let us know!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
