About the role  

The DPO will hold an oversight and advisory role and will be responsible for ensuring that the business processes personal data in line with the applicable requirements of privacy regulations. The DPO will serve as the primary contact for supervisory authorities and individuals whose data is processed by the organisation.

The 10x Privacy & Legal team spans the length and breadth of the business. The role will report to the 10x General Counsel.

About you

You're a Certified privacy professional (CIPP/E), preferably with a law degree who has experience in a similar type of role in banking industry and or SaaS business. You have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to adapt communication style to a variety of stakeholders across the business, including confidently present DP updates to senior stakeholders, including the board.

You handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion and are able to use independent judgement and discretion when making majority of decisions.

You will be responsible for…  

  • Being the subject matter expert leading and advising the business on all things data & privacy.
  • Overseeing and monitoring compliance with the relevant privacy laws (particularly DPA 2018 and UK GDPR requirements) and advising on the responsible use of personal data across the business.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining 10x’s personal data protection programme to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and reduce data privacy risks.
  • Providing updates and escalating data privacy concerns to 10x’s senior management team.
  • Working with the Security Operations and Data & Analytics teams to ensure that datasets containing personal data are managed and have effective controls in place.
  • Managing enquiries and requests relating to data protection practices such as data subject access requests (DSARs), deletion requests and other related privacy issues.
  • Providing the tools, mechanisms and guidance for staff to complete data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and providing advice and assurance of those carried out by the business.
  • Supporting customer-facing RFPs, negotiations and contracting.
  • Supporting vendor reviews relating to critical suppliers that process personal data of 10x or its clients and supporting the contract review team with any questions arising from their reviews.
  • Maintaining data protection policies and procedures.  
  • Maintenance of 10x’s records of processing activities (ROPAs).
  • Serving as the formal point of contact for the ICO (and other regulators) on all data privacy related matters.
  • Assisting the business in the handling of data breaches in collaboration with 10x’s Security Operations teams to maintain a personal data incident management plan and ensure appropriate assessment and notification processes are in place to ensure the ICO and data subjects are notified where necessary.

Requirements

Ideally you will have… 

  • Expert knowledge and in-depth understanding of European and UK data privacy legislation (including Data Protection Regulation 2018 (DPA) and UK GDPR).
  • Good Knowledge of cybersecurity risks and information security standards.
  • Experienced in embedding privacy by design into processes.
  • Experience in managing data incidents and breaches.
