Data Protection Manager

The Role

The Data Protection Manager, reporting into the DPO, will work with multiple business functions to implement, prioritise, and manage the execution of data protection initiatives, primarily related to the GDPR.

You will develop guidance and assist the company in identifying, implementing, and maintaining data protection policies and procedures in coordination with the overall data protection strategy. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for data protection-related queries from internal stakeholders, data subjects and regulators.
  • Identify the need for, and perform Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and International Data Transfer Agreements 
  • Optimise data protection operations and contribute to the overall Data Protection strategy.
  • Review and advise on data protection clauses in Capital on Tap contracts.
  • Assist with compliance audits, questionnaires, and reviews, including corrective actions.
  • Advise on data breaches and assess risk in data processing operations.
  • Review and revise terms of use and privacy policies.
  • Guide the Product team on privacy-by-design principles.
  • Prepare status reports and collect program metrics.

What we’re looking for

  • 5 + years experience in data protection or privacy roles, with a proven track record in implementing GDPR compliance initiatives, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and managing data breaches.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, translating regulatory requirements into operational tasks.
  • Proficient in leading cross-functional projects, fostering a culture of data privacy and security.
  • Strong understanding of UK GDPR; familiarity with CPPA and US data protection environment is a plus.
  • Intermediate understanding of Internet technologies, including tracking technologies, and encryption technologies.
