Reports to: Director, Data Strategy
Key Relationships: Data Science, Data Stratefy, Digital Product Engineering
About Podimetrics:
Founded in 2011, Podimetrics set out on a mission to improve patient lives through early detection and prevention of diabetic foot ulcers, the leading cause of lower limb amputations. Podimetrics has since evolved to become a rapidly growing virtual care management company with advanced technology and patient-centered services.
Today, Podimetrics teams with and provides solutions to patients, payers and providers that alleviate the health and financial implications of diabetic foot complications in high-risk populations. We are a mission driven, financially responsible enterprise that enables patients to stand on their own feet and live more independent and fulfilling lives.
Core Values:
- Mission First: We are here to drive critical change, bring hope and compassionate care to those in great need.
- People Matter Most: We advance our mission by caring for our people (colleagues, patients, providers, customers and stockholders), treating them with kindness and respect.
- Courageous Action: We are driven to act and demand mutual accountability. We believe that missteps foster learning and iterative improvement.
- Healthy Debate: We commit to transparent discussion and resulting decisions. The very best decisions come from differing points of view, requiring good intentions, mutual trust and no ego.
- Deep Curiosity: We are always striving to learn more and do better. We question if the best we have ever done couldn’t be improved further.
Role Description:
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a strong bias to action, natural curiosity, and the ability to work independently while partnering effectively across teams. As part of the Data Science & Strategy organization, you will play a central role in building and maintaining the systems, pipelines, and models that power analytics, machine learning, operational workflows, and strategic decision-making at Podimetrics.
Your work directly supports our mission: improving patient lives through early detection and prevention of diabetic foot complications. You will own critical components of our modern data stack - Google BigQuery, Airflow, cloud infrastructure, dbt, and Python-based pipelines - ensuring our data is accurate, timely, reliable, and accessible.
This is a highly technical, high-impact individual contributor role for someone who loves solving complex problems, thrives in ambiguity, and communicates exceptionally well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise data warehouse structures and pipelines in BigQuery to support analytics, operational workflows, and ML.
- Develop and maintain dbt models, tests, and documentation to standardize and transform data in line with our data strategy.
- Ensure consistent, reliable data structures by owning data modeling standards, documentation, and best practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve existing pipelines with an emphasis on automation, maintainability, and data quality.
- Partner with analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to design datasets that are high quality, well-modeled, and optimized for analytics and reporting.
- Support dashboard and reporting development by optimizing SQL queries and ensuring fit-for-purpose data sources.
- Work closely with digital product engineering to ensure new application features capture high-quality, usable data.
- Implement best practices for data testing, data lineage, and data governance within dbt and downstream tools.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues by identifying root causes and delivering sustainable, technically sound solutions.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve data reliability, scalability, and usability across the organization.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related technical role.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with cloud-based warehouses (BigQuery strongly preferred).
- Professional experience building and managing pipelines using Python, including API integrations.
- Hands-on experience with dbt (or willingness and ability to ramp quickly).
- Experience with Git/GitHub and modern CI/CD practices for data
- Experience with structured logging, monitoring, and observability tools
- Experience with CI/CD for data (GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, etc.)
Competencies:
- Bias to action: You move quickly, take ownership, and unblock yourself whenever possible.
- Independence: You are comfortable operating with limited direction while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Active Listener: You ask questions, seek context, and translate needs into technical solutions.
- Curious Problem Solver: You naturally dig into root causes, systems behavior, and opportunities to improve.
- Accuracy and Detail-Orientation: You create and review new code thoroughly and accurately; ensuring inconsistencies don’t slip through the cracks.
- Reliability and Responsibility: You take ownership and responsibility for operational excellence and contributions to a positive patient experience. You foster confidence from the team by consistently exceeding expectations, including timely responses and attendance of meetings in a remote setting
Benefits:
