This position is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about solving challenging business problems and building applications that provide an excellent user experience. As a Data Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Loyalty and Marketing development team, focusing on designing and building software solutions that leverage data to solve business problems.
The role is for a self-motivated individual with strong foundational software engineering skills. The candidate will be extensively involved in hands-on activities, including POCs, design, documentation, and development of new functionality. The candidate must be flexible and willing to switch tasks based on the team's needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions.
- Participate in the development of new products iteratively by building quick POCs and converting ideas into real products.
- Design and develop mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance.
- Interact with both business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services that meet business requirements and expectations while applying the latest available tools and technology.
- Develop code under the guidance of senior developers to ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and with good code quality.
- Maintain a passion for delivering zero-defect code and contribute to ensuring the team's deliverables meet or exceed the prescribed defect SLA.
- Assist in coordinating Continuous Integration activities and other related items in addition to contributing core product code.
- Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field graduating in 2025
- Strong foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design optimized for building highly distributed and parallelized systems.
- Experience or coursework in building distributed and scalable applications using open-source technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Hadoop Ecosystem/Big Data Stack is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Java; familiarity with Scala is a plus.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and Spring framework.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills are a must.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and change direction mid-course based on business drivers.
- Ability to work independently in a high-throughput environment.
