About the role

 

We are on the lookout for a highly passionate and analytical Data Analyst (R - Markdown/Shiny) to join our Analytics & Insights team and be a key member of the data user community at Betfair. You will be responsible for providing value-add insights and timely reporting to the wider business, whilst assisting the Insights Manager in the mentoring and support of other analysts. We can guarantee you that this role will provide you with loads of personal growth opportunities, an incredible workplace culture and the opportunity to get stuck into amazing projects.

Some tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Using data and analytics to build reports and develop insights to solve business problems
  • Applying advanced SQL coding to extract data from the Snowflake database
  • Using Shiny or Markdown in R to develop and publish reports to the Posit server, to meet stakeholders’ needs
  • Teaching and passing on knowledge to junior or aspiring analysts
  • Analysing information using statistical/data analysis techniques to provide key insights
  • Assessing business performance and sharing findings with leaders to drive improvement

Requirements

What you will bring:

  • A person who has a passion for delving deep into datasets to answer difficult questions
  • Advanced level of SQL programming
  • Extensive and proven experience using R to wrangle data, build reports and write functions
  • Able to take initiative, be proactive and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and exhibit excellent consulting and internal customer service skills
  • High level of numeracy
  • Someone who enjoys collaborating with others and achieving common goals
  • You contribute to making Betfair the ‘Best place to work’

 

The below is great, but not critical:

  • Experience reporting/building using Shiny/Markdown
  • Experience deploying/managing reports on RStudio (Posit) Connect
  • A passion for sports and/or racing
