Team’s Mission / Work Responsibilities
Business Solutions at Mercari
- Mercari Group has a diverse range of businesses, including the main Mercari marketplace app, the Merpay mobile payment service, and Mercoin, which provides services related to cryptoassets and blockchain. Our B2C services, focused on Mercari Shops and Mercari’s advertising business, are also experiencing significant growth at Mercari.
- Business Solutions was established to bring Mercari’s unique synergy to the B2C sector and drive new growth across Mercari Group.
Analytics Team’s Mission
- Commit to growing the Business Solutions business
- Understand the following guidelines for action to grow the business
- Influence stakeholders’ decisions using the team’s output
- Understand that data analysis is a tool for bringing fairness and transparency to the decision-making process and discussions
- Independently create tasks, and translate those tasks to models that can facilitate stakeholders’ decisions

Specific work responsibilities include the following:
- Identify problems and devise sales strategies, marketing strategies, and plans to improve the quality of service through quantitative analysis of the advertising business and Mercari Shops business
- Support management by monitoring business and creating business plans
Unique and Bold Challenges
- Challenges of Mercari’s Business Solutions business
- Business Solutions is a new initiative of Mercari’s marketplace business. We also plan to use Business Solutions as a springboard for new ventures. In this position, you will be responsible for analyzing data that enables stakeholders to make quick business decisions, and collaborate with stakeholders to grow the business.
- Business Solutions is made up of a small team of experts, and you will be working very closely with the product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams. Unlike a typical data analyst position, you will also be committed to launching and growing the business and be willing to guide stakeholders to specific actions. In this unique environment, you will have ample opportunity to make your mark and learn new things outside your area of expertise.
- This role will be fulfilling for someone with the ambition to grow and actively engage in a new field. This is a challenging position that will require you to develop a new business while utilizing the breadth of assets owned by Japan’s largest marketplace app, but a rewarding one that will have a big global impact if successful. With this role, you will have the opportunity to be a part of something special.
Required Qualifications
- Shared belief in the mission and values of Mercari Group and its various companies
- At least 5 years’ experience in data analysis at a company that runs an application or online service, or at least 5 years’ experience at an advertising platform company
- Familiarity with extracting and compiling data using SQL
- Ability to clearly describe and define tasks and independently cycle between developing hypotheses and testing with data
- Ability to convey analysis output as a meaningful outcome to stakeholders
- Experience working on projects that improve processes or services in cooperation with other departments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at an advertising platform company or an e-commerce company
- Familiar with measuring the results of marketing or product improvement initiatives (e.g., using A/B testing)
- Experience in project management or team management
- Experience analyzing data using Python or other programming languages
- Experience creating and implementing sales plans, KPI management, and business plans

必須条件
- メルカリグループおよび各カンパニーのミッションとバリューに共感していただける方
- App/Webサービスを持つ事業会社でのデータ分析の実務経験、もしくは広告プラットフォーム事業の実務経験5年以上
- SQLを用いたデータ抽出・集計スキル
