Data Analyst Intern

The Data Analyst Intern will work under the direction of our Data Analyst. The Data Analyst will work to understand historical construction data, construction labor rates, manage and benchmark norms and trends, and provide analysis that will support pricing strategies to maximize our profits, cash flow and avoid any losses during construction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leverages data analytics and apply data analysis techniques
  • Thoroughly investigates the specifications, scope of work, drawings, other RFP documents and develops a complete understanding of the RFP requirements
  • Accurately and timely performs takeoffs and calculations and analyzes data
  • Identifies task; conducts research to determine dependencies, identifies specific resources needed, time and cost
  • Works to understand construction labor rate build-up for workforce including Fringe, general markups, and other indirect cost impacts
  • Collaborates with internal departments Finance, Accounting, Project Controls and other Internal Stakeholders to gather information
  • Coordinates with subcontractors, vendors, and other 3rd party firms to gather additional information
  • Creates/tracks/adjusts the project schedule in the preconstruction phase
  • Supports Providing input into value engineering, claim avoidance, and risk management aspects of construction projects
  • Identifies tasks and research, determines dependencies, assesses costs, and identifies and assigns specific resources, and communicates expectations to team members
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the contract documents and the potential risks for a project
  • Makes well-supported recommendations on how to mitigate and price risks
  • Works on multiple projects at the same time
  • Maintains and adheres to strict confidentiality at all times
  • Supports the Data Analyst on other projects as needed

Requirements

  • In pursuit of a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Statistics, Math and/or Data Science highly preferred
  • Excellent Academic Credentials (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
  • A general understanding of construction and interest in the renewable industry
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Experience with Power BI (desired)
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced challenging environment
  • Working knowledge of project-based financial models
  • Must have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and organizational skills
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Word, etc.),
  • Experience in Primavera, Microsoft Project, HCSS, Bluebeam or other takeoff software would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems and site surveying would be valuable
