About the Role:
AngelList provides the tools that make it simple for anyone to become a funder or founder. We are looking for a highly analytical and self-motivated Data Analyst who is passionate about using their technical skills to democratize data, metrics, and insights for the team.
Reporting to the Head of Business Operations, you will be working closely with Product leads and the Finance team as their data partner for measurement and insights on key strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a track record of establishing success metrics to understand business/product health and turning data into helpful, actionable insights for the entire organization. They will be excited at the prospect of achieving our mission by supporting the next generation of startups.
You will:
- Be the go-to analyst and data partner for our Finance team and Product leads on key growth initiatives.
- Develop metrics and dashboards to help leadership across Exec/Finance/Product make data-driven decisions.
- Conduct data analysis of complex data sets to proactively provide actionable insights.
- Partner with leads and leverage data to inform, develop, and iterate on strategic business initiatives.
- Design, build, and maintain BI infrastructure
- Foster scalability by empowering partners to perform analyses independently
Other characteristics of the ideal candidate:
- 5+ years experience in a data analysis role
- You have previously worked in an early-stage company, and you know how to navigate and be successful in a startup environment
- Ability to problem solve and navigate ambiguity
- Expert knowledge of SQL
- Experience designing & implementing data ecosystems, including reporting & dashboards
- Experience with financial forecast modeling or predictive modeling
- Strong written and communication skills to engage with non-technical to very-technical audiences
Bonus points (nice skills to have, but not needed):
- Experience with Python, R, Ruby, or any other scripting language
- Experience in building analytical tools or data engineering services
- Experience with statistics, data science

- Demonstrate efficient use of tools and methodologies to streamline data processing and reporting tasks
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, methodologies, and technologies used in data analysis.

AngelList has offices in two hub cities: San Francisco and New York City that you can choose to work from. We’re focused on hiring within these hubs and people within 1 hour travel distance of the hub offices are expected to come into the office twice per week.
