WHAT WILL YOU DO
This individual is responsible for screening and diagnosing gynecological and non-gynecological slides while working under the supervision of the pathologists and supervisor and following their technical direction. Activities may include accessioning, staining, microscopic screening and filing of cytology slides and requisitions. He/she will report results of all tests performed according to established procedures. In addition this individual will participate fully in all cytology quality control procedures and complies with quality assurance and quality management standards with the department as outlined by the department, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA and other applicable agencies. This individual will troubleshoot technical procedures within the department and make recommendations for solutions. This individual will maintain a healing environment for employees and patients with a spirit of caring and concern as incorporated in the philosophy of our Catholic healthcare systems while performing all job functions.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and successful completion of a 12-month training program in an accredited school of cytotechnology.
OR
Graduation from approved, CAHEA accredited cytology program or HHS approved cytology program, with college credits and experience (as defined in CLIA requirements Section 493.1483) to include 2 years in a regionally accredited college or university with at least 12 semester hours in science, 8 hours of which are in biology, plus successful completion of a 12-month training program in an accredited school of cytotechnology.
