CTO / Head of Engineering, Virtual Insurance

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to join our growing team as we enter a new phase of expansion for OneDegree Hong Kong, the licensed virtual insurance company, OneDegree. About the Role: 

This senior leadership position will lead the engineering team that underpin our rapidly growing business in modern insurance technology solutions. As the CTO/ Head of Engineering in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, you will have the opportunity to be one of the key members of the management team, build and mentor your engineering leadership team, and experiment with new ideas and technologies.

Responsibilities: 

  • Product Innovation: Passionate about exploration, sharing and adoption of new technology. Be visionary and creative to drive new product and technology experience to enhance the end-to-end and front-to-back customers and insurance experiences with newly emerging and existing technologies 
  • Engineering Vision and Strategy: Own and drive the core architecture and technical vision as it relates to product and business objectives and vision. 
  • Drive a customer-centric culture: be able to put yourself into customers’ shoes to build and enhance insurance products experience that you can’t resist it. 
  • Product Development Process: Iterate and elevate our product development process, ensuring high velocity and quality of engineering output. 
  • Code Quality and Standards: Define and monitor standards to ensure the highest levels of quality, performance, scalability, and reliability of the codebase and technical infrastructure. 
  • Future Planning: Live in the future! Be able to imagine the future of insurance and be organized to plan and build what is missing by putting up a technologu roadmap with comprehensive considerations covering systems preparation, technologies adoption, processes, and the team for continued growth. 
  • Leadership: Attract, recruit, evaluate, and retain a talented team of engineers. 
  • Manage Team: Inspire and lead the engineering team, creating a culture of transparency, performance, and innovation. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Served as Head of Engineering or CTO building and leading an engineering team in a high-growth environment. 
  • Possess technical depth to quickly assess the effectiveness of system architectures and technology stack, development methodologies, and tools to run an efficient software design and development organization. 
  • Strong understanding of the industry trends and competition in the world of SaaS products preferred. 
  • Experience managing the development and release of low-code/no-code automation platforms preferred. 
  • Built systems in accordance with security and compliance requirements. 
  • Strong hands-on experience, with the ability to walk through engineering designs, challenge them, and help them evolve. 
  • Can think out of the box and provide key inputs for contributing to the product roadmap. 
  • Deep technical knowledge in software and systems and the ability to give a high-level overview to executives, clients, and non-technical audiences. 
  • Embrace a strong drive for results, continuous improvement, and execution. 
  • Passion for leading change and transformation in the industry with new technology. 
  • With experience of AI adoption and digital transformation is preferred.
