JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
The cross-trained infusion technician is responsible for providing staffing coverage for TOI’s MIDs when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- Maintains accurate patient records, including patient demographics, current medication list, disease states list, allergy list, insurance information, and prescription information
- Utilizes pharmacy management system to screen for drug related interactions
- Processes prescription and bills insurance for payment
- Submits prior authorizations
- Assists with applying for patient financial assistance through manufacturer or foundation programs
- Assists with ordering and ensuring that the most cost-effective drugs are ordered from vendors
- Receives, verifies, and processes drug orders
- Assists with drug recalls and expired or non-utilized drug returns
- Prepares and labels prescriptions and ensures they are checked for accuracy by physician or pharmacist
- Ensures prescriptions and paperwork are being signed off on by a physician or pharmacist
- Obtains patient or patient representative signature on all medications being dispensed
- Files and stores prescription hardcopies
- Maintains and files daily reports
- Documents all patient interactions in the EMR
- Tracks and reports monthly inventory in the pharmacy management system when needed
- Assists with prescription refills
- Interacts with patients regarding prescription dispensing and patient follow-up
- Maintains the safety by adhering to infection-control procedures, policies, and regulations
- Comply with accreditation standards in dispending prescriptions
- Will also complete all infusion technician duties

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
- High School graduate/GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical terminology preferred.
- Active and Clear Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Nevada
PHYSICAL WORKING REQUIREMENTS:
The position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, extensive computer use, and phone interaction. Additionally, the role may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds for office supplies or equipment.
