As Ghana Country Manager for Rafiki, our B2B payments product, you’ll play a key role in driving our growth and success in one of our most promising markets. This is a unique opportunity to shape Rafiki’s presence in Ghana and establish it as the preferred payout partner for businesses across the country.
You’ll have full ownership and autonomy in the role but will work closely with the Head of Country Management, our leadership team, and the founders to execute your strategy. Your goal? Make Rafiki the go-to payment solution in Ghana.
This is a critical hire as we deepen our footprint in Ghana. With a pending license application this role will ensure we can navigate regulatory requirements effectively. Beyond compliance, you’ll help us master FX trading, forge strong local partnerships, and position Rafiki as a leader in Ghana’s payments space.

🎯 Your Responsibilities in this Role
- Lead Market Strategy: Drive Rafiki’s strategy and execution to establish it as the preferred payout partner in Ghana
- Build Partnerships: Cultivate strong commercial relationships with Ghanaian FX Trading Partners, Payout Partners, and other key stakeholders to secure the best rates and unmatched reliability
- Manage Licensing: Represent Rafiki with the Bank of Ghana to secure and unblock the pending license critical for our operations
- Develop the Brand: Transform Rafiki into a recognized and trusted brand in the Ghanaian market
- Identify Opportunities: Dive deep into the local market to uncover opportunities and address challenges, such as building relationships with banks, aggregators, and payment providers
- Market Leadership: Own the success of the Ghanaian market, including key metrics and the market’s "P&L," while managing treasury, partnerships, and client acquisition
🔥 Must-have requirements
- Proven expertise in working with Ghanaian financial institutions, particularly within fintech, payments, or mobile money
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with banks, regulators, and fintech companies
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of accountability and commitment
- Strategic thinker with the ability to break down complex situations and develop clear solutions
- Hands-on problem solver, comfortable diving into details to resolve issues
- Fluency in English at a business level
💪 Nice to have requirements
- Experience working with the Bank of Ghana, especially in licensing and compliance.
- Experience working on Branding, helping position your company within the Ghana market
- Experience working independently - you’ll be the go-to-person for Ghana as we establish our operation there
