ABOUT THE ROLE

Peloton is looking for a highly motivated attorney with an entrepreneurial approach to join our Litigation & Government Investigations team! In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of a diverse portfolio of claims and other disputes, responding to subpoenas and other requests for information, coordinating insurance matters, and generally supporting the team’s senior lawyers in managing more complex claims. The ideal candidate has provided support on litigation matters from inception to trial and appeal, has independently managed claims, is well organized, and can collaborate toward shared business goals. This role will be based out of our New York City headquarters office and will be required to comply with our hybrid policy. Currently, hybrid team members report to the office weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Assist the Litigation & Government Investigations team with a broad range of disputes, including class action, commercial, consumer, and product liability claims
  • Coordinate with cross-functional and external counsel to develop factual records and legal strategy
  • Collaborate with business partners to mitigate risk and avoid disputes, and assist member-facing teams in de-escalating member support issues
  • Manage insurance claims and claims for indemnification where applicable, and advise on risk management strategies
  • Investigate and respond to demand letters, subpoenas, and information requests; analyze contracts and other agreements; and draft and negotiate settlement agreements
  • Assist with litigation diligence and public reporting
  • Demonstrate a keen ability to issue-spot sensitive legal and business concerns within complex programs and know when to raise (and not to raise) those matters to internal cross-functional partners 

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • 5+ years litigation experience in a large law firm or in-house practice; secondment is a plus
  • Strong legal competence, creative problem solving and critical thinking, with a bias for action and confidence to make informed decisions that have both legal and business implications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to simplify complicated legal concepts to further resolution and avoid escalation of disputes
  • Superb analytical, writing and organizational skills, and a proven track record of handling  and prioritizing multiple projects at once, meet demanding deadlines in the face of ambiguity, triage effectively, and adjust tasks frequently
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset (no job is too small or too large)
  • Ability to work independently with Peloton team members throughout the U.S. and globally
  • Experience with consumer protection and warranty laws is a plus 
  • Understanding of insurance programs, financial reserves, and coverage issues is a plus
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative business
  • Member in good standing of the NY or comparable State Bar

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes. Base Salary Range
$172,100$223,800 USD
