Role at a Glance 

We’re looking for a skilled and attentive counsel to focus on United States government contracting matters. This will include providing legal counsel and direction on Gecko’s responses to proposals, negotiating with contract officers and program managers, and advising on all related matters. It is essential that the candidate  be self-motivated and comfortable working cross-functionally to engage the requisite stakeholders and seek out necessary information from across the organization.  In a nutshell, your primary role will be to support and enable Gecko to deploy its innovative technology to US Government agencies in an expedient, precise, and compliant manner.  It is anticipated that you will also support other aspects of Gecko’s business as needed, including providing legal support for non-governmental commercial transactions. 

What you will do

  • Support crafting and negotiation of government proposals and other government contracting initiatives in accordance with federal procurement law and Gecko’s business needs. 
  • Work closely with the Business Development and Capture teams to thoughtfully craft our proposals from both a business and legal perspective. 
  • Advise on compliance matters relating to US Government contracting and clearances, and support the development of and management of related compliance programs. 
  • Provide legal counsel throughout the acquisition and execution lifecycle to mitigate risks and ensure compliance. 
  • Support  negotiation of non-governmental commercial transactions (sales and purchasing) with an eye towards balancing risk mitigation with expedient delivery. 
  • Provide other general legal support as needed.

 

About You

Required 

  • Educational minimum – Juris Doctor, active license to practice in Pennsylvania or Washington DC, as applicable, or the ability to become admitted in such jurisdiction(s) within six months of hire
  • Experience minimum – 3 years’ experience in supporting government contracting
  • Expertise with FAR & DFARS clauses

Preferred

  • Exposure to, and ideally expertise in, working with the US government on a wide array of issues, including all things relating to government contracting 
  • Strong negotiator who operates well in ambiguous and fast paced environments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to build strong relationships cross-functionally, including with business, finance, and technical stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and operate under pressure
  • Willingness to wear multiple hats with shifting priorities and work on projects of all types
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with facility security clearances and related processes
