The Conversions Technician position is responsible for assisting the Operations and Conversions Manager with all event conversions & set-ups throughout Ford Field. The Conversions Technician will be required to work a varied schedule that will include evenings, late nights, holidays and weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):
The Conversions Technician position will have daily responsibilities including, without limitation, the following:

  • Set up equipment for various events, including tables, chairs, pipe/drape, inflatables, signage, tensa barrier, staging, and other equipment as necessary
  • Maintain organized inventory and clean work areas to allow for safe, easy access to equipment and efficient event setup
  • Attend and actively participate in event planning meetings
  • Effectively supervise crew of temporary employees to maximize efficiency
  • Ensure safety is a priority at all times, follow OSHA standards

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Maintain professionalism when communicating with internal and external contacts
  • Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines
  • Will adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Will quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
  • Will adapt to last minute client requests and changes
  • Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing.
  • This position requires the employee to work on-site at Ford Field and/or the Meijer Performance Center and does not offer a remote work option

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in conversions
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to complete tasks with limited support
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional ability to pay attention to detail and follow-up
  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
  • Ability to operate portable radios, telephones, copiers, computers and other equipment associated with the responsibilities of the job
  • Ability to adapt to last minute client requests and changes
  • Ability to walk, sit, climb, crawl, kneel, squat, bend, and extend arms and legs fully
  • Ability to use hands to manipulate and effectively use tools and controls
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to obtain certification for safe operation of forklift
  • No fear of heights
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and guests
  • Must have the ability to work independently with the ability and willingness to take direction
  • A valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
