Our suite of end-to-end foodservice technology solutions helps professionals across healthcare and aging services streamline their operations, save time, reduce food waste, and meet regulatory requirements, so they can focus on what matters most: improving the quality of patient and resident care. 

We’re looking for a Controller to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director, Finance, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the smooth accounting and financial operation of the CloudStorm Ventures companies.  This position involves a combination of financial analysis, reporting, and management of internal controls to ensure accurate and reliable financial information is available for decision-making. The Controller oversees the accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow reporting and financial reporting functions. 

A day in the life as a Controller: 

  • Plan and coordinate all accounting operational functions 
  • Monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulations, governance, and company policies and procedures, including tax planning and compliance 
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data required for accurate accounting of consolidated business results 
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and financial analyses 
  • Lead the preparation of financial information and liaise with external auditors 
  • Work closely with the Director, Finance to develop and monitor business performance metrics, manage vital information for the decision-making process 
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team consisting of Accountants, an Accounting Analyst and an Accounts Receivable Specialist 
  • Collaborate with senior financial leadership to identify efficiencies, define financial strategies and implement improvements 

If the below describes your knowledge, experience and character, then this role could be for you: 

  • I have a CPA designation with a minimum of 5 years of direct accounting based professional experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience at a Controller level position; bonus points if I’ve worked at a start-up / scale up SaaS organization 
  • I have experience in, or have an interest in leading a small team of accounting team members 
  • I have knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory requirements, specifically ASPE and US GAAP 
  • I am obsessed with details - nothing gets past me 
  • I’m curious and exceptional at understanding a problem and finding unique and efficient ways to solve it 
  • I own it. I thrive where I can actively take initiative, manage my timelines and build on my responsibilities to exceed my expectations 
  • I’m familiar with Ceridian, Salesforce and/or Quickbooks – but if I’m not familiar, then I know I’m technically savvy enough to quickly pick them up 
  • I’m willing to occasionally travel and have a valid passport and no travel restrictions that limit my ability to cross the border between Canada and the USA 
  • I thrive in an agile environment that is constantly changing and encourages team members to collectively collaborate and communicate 
  • I love to be directly involved in projects and initiatives that offer continued learning and endless opportunity to express my ideas and build my leadership skills

This role will require you to work in our office located in Cambridge, ON, up to 2 days a week.
