Please note that we are an in-office company, which means the expectation is that you would come in to your Applied Intuition office 5 days a week.

About the role

We are looking for a Controller who will lead our Accounting department and manage our financial reporting. You will play a critical role in maintaining financial reporting, overseeing audits, and hiring and growing the team, and helping us to build streamlined processes. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in technical and operational accounting with a proven record of scaling accounting teams at high-growth companies.

At Applied Intuition, you will:

  • Own the financial close process and all associated processes and reporting to deliver accurate and timely results to the organization to facilitate critical decision making
  • Oversee all accounting processes, including but not limited to revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, tax, treasury, consolidation, and financial reporting
  • Provide leadership and vision for scaling the accounting team and our financial infrastructure
  • Help drive opportunities for process improvements and automation, optimize the ERP and other accounting systems and tools, and help lead the implementation of best practices for all the accounting processes
  • Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in compliance with US GAAP, including staying up to date on the latest FASB and SEC guidance
  • Work cross-functionally with the FP&A team and business unit leaders to assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Partner with all departments to provide data and insights to help managers run the company and make effective decisions
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support long-term planning and growth initiatives
  • Lead, retain, and develop a high performing accounting team and support their growth and professional development

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA
  • 10+ years of overall experience, previous experience in the financial reporting area as a senior member of the accounting team
  • Proven track record of building strong teams and leading/influencing others through highly cross-functional projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate issues and solutions to all levels of management
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; extremely organized, detail-oriented, and mindful of deadlines
  • Strong ERP systems experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including ability to independently analyze transactions and contracts and document the related accounting analysis under GAAP

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Netsuite
  • 3+ years of Big 4 experience
  • Experience implementing SOX
  • Overseeing international subsidiaries and transfer pricing arrangements
  • Knowledgeable of stock-based compensation accounting requirements
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606
  • Similar industry experience in a high-growth software company

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.

Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.

Please reference the job posting’s subtitle for where this position will be located. For pay transparency purposes, the base salary range for this full-time position in the location listed is: $219,000 to $286,600 USD annually.
