As a Contract Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and administration of contracts throughout various projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the contract administration team, developing and maintaining relationships with clients, outside legal counsel, claim managers and subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is executed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Your attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills will contribute to the successful execution of our projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement contract life cycle management processes, procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain compliance through obtaining and renewing business registrations and contractor licensing. Coordinate with internal and external resources to assure that all documentation is up to date and available for Company use.
• Analyze requests for proposal and contract terms to identify business risks, recommend edits to the contract terms and conditions, assist with the development of pricing strategy, and support contract compliance efforts.
• Collaborate with colleagues across organizational lines to understand and mitigate risks inherent to construction contracts, subcontract and purchase orders.
• Monitor and administer the compliance provisions of assigned contracts to ensure that contract requirements are met.
• Collaborate with claims managers and outside legal counsel on the defense of insurance claims. Coordinate discovery and gather and maintain documentation required for claims.
• Review and analyze subcontracts and purchase order terms to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Collaborate with outside legal counsel and project managers to negotiate contract and subcontract terms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Work closely with the finance department to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control for outside legal counsel expense.
• Identify cost-saving and cash flow improvement opportunities and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate and organized contract records, documentation, and correspondence.
• Prepare regular reports on contract performance, including financial status, milestones, and compliance.
• Ensure all contracts meet Company requirements with regard to legal, and quality standards by conducting periodic contract audits and assessments.
• Work in a highly dynamic environment where multi-tasking and changing priorities demand organized and urgent work style to complete tasks according to the needs of the business.
• Conduct training sessions to broaden and deepen the organizations knowledge of best practices in the contracting and claims management process.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Business or related degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in proven experience in equipment management, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment performing the similar primary responsibilities listed.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, legal requirements, and industry standards.
• Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficient in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Attention to detail, organization and a commitment to accuracy.
• High degree of integrity, sensitivity, and professionalism in dealing with confidential information.
