Overview of Role
Heretic’s stealth portfolio company, a consumer-facing AI startup, is seeking an experienced recruiter for a 9-month full-time contract to recruit primarily software engineers, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, and site reliability engineers for a consumer-AI company based in the Presidio of San Francisco. Our team is expanding rapidly and we are looking for a recruiter to accelerate that process.

The role reports formally to Peter Sjolander, Sr. Director of the Heretic Venture Studio, but interfaces primarily with the hiring managers, specifically the head of Engineering and the head of AI.

The term is for 9 months. Location is flexible. We are a three days/week in-office organization, but for this position this is not necessary. SF Bay Area preferred but not required.

Heretic Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture studio ideating and launching new businesses in the creator economy, including those that capitalize on AI/ML technology. Heretic is run by Managing Partner Mariam Naficy, who founded and built the pioneering internet companies Minted and Eve.com. Heretic is backed by household names in Silicon Valley (investors and entrepreneurs), who act as the studio’s advisors both in selecting and in advising companies.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies
  • Source, screen, and interview candidates to identify top talent for various positions
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring a positive candidate experienceUtilize various recruitment channels, including job boards, social media, and professional networks
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future hiring needsCollaborate with HR and hiring teams to coordinate interviews, assessments, and candidate feedback
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and recruitment best practicesProvide regular updates to stakeholders on recruitment progress and challenges

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a recruiter, preferably in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of recruiting methods and tools, with a focus on sourcing and candidate assessment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a dynamic environment
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other recruitment software
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
