London Tech Week has grown rapidly in recent years and we have a clear roadmap to continue this into 2025 and beyond. We are looking for a Content Director who can support this by creating world-class content and recruiting superstar speakers in a fast-moving and exciting sector.
As Content Director, you will be responsible for setting the overall content strategy, managing a team of conference producers and taking charge of our headline stage. You’ll need a proven track record of creating exceptional content for high-profile events and securing big-hitting speakers. You’ll be able to demonstrate a commitment to getting under the skin of your target audience and to innovating to make sure your event gives them superb value.
London Tech Week covers all aspects of tech – AI, cybersecurity, climatetech, fintech, sportstech, spacetech, healthtech – just to name a few. You’ll be ready to embrace the stimulating challenge of keeping on top of the hottest trends in the market and creating a culture of expertise and excellence in the team.
Job Description
The Content Director will set our content strategy, manage a team of conference producers and create their own best-in-class agendas. You’ll be ready to use your research skills and creative flair to make a difference and support our growth journey.
You’ll need to be a good people manager who is able to coach and develop the skills of their team. Above all, you’ll be able to inspire your team to shoot for the stars and pull out all the stops to get there.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Setting the overall content strategy for London Tech Week
- Mapping target audience profiles and understanding the relationships between them in a complex ecosystem
- Guiding your team in thorough market research, using advisory boards, face to face meetings and telephone research to achieve a detailed understanding of needs
- Create innovative agendas which demonstrate content expertise and set us apart from competitors
- Secure top level speakers, leveraging relationships with stakeholder to get to people that you might otherwise not reach
- Coach a team of conference producers, providing clear and timely feedback on all aspects of their work
- Create a culture of ambition and excellence in the content team
- Keep on top of developments in the tech industry and role model subject matter expertise
- Feed into wider product planning and positioning of the event
- Support the marketing team with messaging and copy
- Working with the sponsorship team to identify new target markets and articulate value propositions
- Joining sales calls with prospective sponsors
- A proven track record of high quality conference production in content-led events
- Strong functional skills in audience research, agenda writing and speaker acquisition
- Experience of securing very high-level speakers
- Commercial acumen to create marketable content and develop USPs versus competitive events
- A creative approach to producing event content
- Strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for people management
- Entrepreneurial gumption with a go-getter attitude
- Ability to build relationships with senior industry and government figures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptability and resilience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in conference production
