Reporting to the Director, Projects, the Construction Manager, Execution Planning is responsible for adding new value and mitigating risks associated with construction work scopes in the Project Development Group (PDG) portfolio. In this role, you will address Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Stage activities required to move major capital projects through to execution in accordance with Teck’s Project Development Framework. A key focus area will be setting up the PDG construction service providers for success through development of construction scopes of work, construction execution planning, construction contracting strategy assessment, construction contractor qualification, and construction contractor evaluation and selection processes.

This role will be based out of beautiful Vancouver, B.C., and will include approximately 20% travel to support projects throughout our global operations.
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Provide construction input in pre-feasibility and feasibility stages including sophisticated work planning, construction sequencing, and construction methodology assessment
- Lead and participate in value-engineering, constructability, safety, operational readiness, and other project functional area reviews
- Collaborate with site Operational Leadership to engage them in planning, facilitate alignment, and approvals
- Develop an Owner’s Construction Execution Strategy and Construction Management Plan
- Evaluate and refine contracting strategies to optimize budget and schedule; explore opportunities to reduce site labor through modularization, pre-fabrication, pre-testing, and automation
- Identify project specific community and labor market factors including resource planning, skills assessment, training, housing, and transportation impacts
- Support the procurement team with procurement strategy development, logistics and materials laydown, staging, and storage planning
- Provide insight on preparation of scope of work and support pre-qualification and tendering process for engagement of Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services, direct construction contracts and site services contracts
- Provide oversight of service providers’ construction management planning and construction scheduling scopes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent Registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
- Proven experience in a broad range of major brownfield and greenfield construction projects for the resource industry
- Knowledge of all aspects of project delivery including pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detail design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning
- The ability to travel outside of Canada is required
